Hall Piero Guccione
Piero Guccione was born in Scicli, in the province of Ragusa, on May 5, 1935. Trained at the Art Institute of Catania, the Sicilian artist moved to Rome in 1954 to study at the Academy of Fine Arts. Here he met Guttuso to which he was assistant from 1966 to 1969 for the chair of painting. These were years of work intended for Guccione, but also of many international awards. In 1961, at the request of the American Federation of Art, he organized a painting exhibition at the Columbia University of New York, later he was hosted in major American universities. Since the 1980s he has been participating in numerous exhibitions in important international museum institutions. Guccione is closely linked to the "Scicli group", a definition coined by Guttuso during an interview with Il Tempo in 1981.
